If you are mosaic maker, nothing could be more appealing than the thought of knowing you have an entire week with nothing to do but work on your latest project. Mosaic Master Class offers just that--an entire week of mosaic immersion under the guidance of Margo Anton.
In this class, you will spend the week working on a major project of your own choosing, ideally one that contains a personal challenge in some way, or stretches the your ability. If new to mosaic, simply getting started in mosaic could be the aim. If an intermediate or advanced student, the aim could be to work with a new material, to try your hand at a portrait, to use an unfamiliar laying pattern, or simply to work on a long thought about but as of yet unrealized piece. The scope is endless, and the options stated here are just a few.
Throughout the week, I'll give lots of one on one attention to each individual, making this the perfect class to attempt something you are really unsure about. You can expect small mini lectures, both scheduled and unscheduled, on a daily basis. These will be based on the various mosaic challenges presented by the pieces that the group is working on. As students enroll and I learn more about these projects you're tackling, I'll write up a schedule so you know what to mentally expect. Unscheduled lectures will happen randomly as areas of concern come up for participants.
Prior to the class, I will be available to consult via email and Skype to discuss your project with you, and to help you gather materials. This will help you determine the suitability of your chosen project, and give me a feeling for what sorts of lessons will benefit the group. Please let me know in advance if there is a topic you would specifically like covered. If you are beginner, I'll cover the basics first thing on Saturday so you can get started off on the right foot.
Students will need to bring the materials required for their projects, as the nature of the class is such that I cannot possibly provide the materials for a variety of disparate projects. Early consultation with me could lead to group purchase orders (saving money on combined shipping and any professional discounts I might have access to), so think about your project early if you are thinking of attending. I do have a lot of supplies cached in the Edmonton area however, and early planning also gives me time to see if I might have the tesserae, bases, tools, etc that you might need. Hammer and hardies will be available for use and if you are unfamiliar with their use, I'll be more than happy to cover that too.
Expect to come away from the Master Class with an increased understanding of mosaic, a sense of pride in your increasing abilities, and a mostly--if not completely--finished project!
